Assistant/Associate Professor of Education- Director of Student Teaching

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  1. All facultyÌýresponsibilities

  2. UponÌýreceiptÌýofÌýtheÌýTeacherÌýEducationÌýProgramÌý(TEP)Ìýapplication,ÌýmonitorÌýtheÌýprocessÌýuntilÌýthe student is ready for the TEP interview.ÌýRequirements in addition to the application include test scores,Ìýrecommendations,Ìý2.75 GPA,ÌýphilosophyÌýpaper,Ìýand dispositionsÌýwhichÌýmustÌýallÌýbeÌýverified.

  3. Coordinate interviews (each semester) with advisors and of the DOEÌýfaculty.

  4. Participate in the TEPÌýinterviews.
  5. DocumentÌýtheÌýoutcomeÌýofÌýtheÌýinterviewÌýforÌýtheÌý²õ³Ù³Ü»å±ð²Ô³Ù²õ’ÌýTEPÌýandÌý²¹»å±¹¾±²õ´Ç°ù²õ’Ìýfiles,ÌýincludingÌýa letter of the decision. Copies are also made for the student and the TEPÌýfile.
  6. Update the TEP spreadÌýsheet.

  7. CommunicateÌýTEPÌýrequirementsÌýwithÌýstudentsÌýandÌýassistÌýinÌýregisteringÌýforÌýappropriateÌýtests.
  8. VerifyÌýbackgroundÌýchecksÌýforÌýeveryÌýstudentÌýenrolledÌýinÌýFEÌýIÌýandÌýIIÌýandÌýallÌýotherÌýclinical experiences.
  9. Contact LEAs for student teachingÌýplacement.

  10. Revise and updateÌýforms.

  11. Share requirements and expectations with students, supervising instructors, and cooperating systems.

  1. Collect evaluations and report the data on the spreadÌýsheets.

  2. Visit student teachers at assigned schools during the student teacherÌýsemester.
  3. Maintain a positive line of communication with all representatives ofÌý³¢·¡´¡â€™s.
  4. Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Licensure, Registration, Certification

  • Candidates must hold an earned master’s degree fromÌýan accredited institution. Doctoral degree is preferred. Years of teaching experience will be considered.

  • Candidates must have a minimum of three years teaching experience and have an LOE score of a4 orÌý5 in the K-12Ìýsetting.

  • Candidates must hold a validÌýTN teaching license; administrative endorsement preferred.

Licensure, Registration, Certification

  • Knowledge of Tennessee's licensure procedures is desired.

  • Candidates with endorsements in Administration, Reading/Literacy,ÌýSpecial Education, Elementary, and/or Secondary are desired.

  • Experience in supervising teachers and/or student teachers is desired.

Physical Requirements:

WorkÌýrequires little or no physical effort. Lifting or performing other work requiring lightÌýphysical exertion (up to 30 pounds) is intermittent (not a routine part of the job) and secondary toÌýthe job.

Environmental Conditions:

Work is performed under basically normal working conditions as in a standard office or classroom environment.
